Adaptive control system (AGS)

 


Automatic transmission of your car is equipped with an adaptive control system (AGS) which thinly reacts to style of your driving and road conditions. At the same time a certain program of gear shifting automatically is chosen.

The system counts the most acceptable gear shifting order, considering at the same time a set of factors. Your individual style of driving and road conditions is taken into account.

Style of driving of AGS defines, estimating situation and speed of the movement of a pedal of an accelerator, delay when braking and the cross accelerations influencing the car on turns. From four various options - from exclusively comfortable to the car focused on the maximum use of opportunities - the AGS system chooses the most suitable in this situation.

The system registers turns, rises and biases. When passing turns at great speed it, for example, does not make switchings to overgears. On rises switching to overgears is carried out only on high turns of the engine better to use its power opportunities. On descents the system makes switchings to low gears if registers increase in speed of the car and pressing of a pedal of a brake.

Possible provisions of the lever of the AT selector:

Start of the engine

Start of the engine is possible only if the lever of the AT selector is in the provision of P or N.

Change of position of the lever of the AT selector


On the forward party of the handle of the lever of the AT selector there is (it is shown by an arrow), a blocking button preventing wrong transfer of the lever of the selector to provisions R and Ruble. For removal of blocking press the button.

Before inclusion of transfer of the forward course (the translation of the lever from situation P or N) press a brake pedal, otherwise the lever will remain motionless.

The pedal of a brake should be held pressed up to the moment of a start of motion as if one of transfers is included, the car slowly will move even idling.

If you want to go out of the car, without switching off the engine, then transfer the AT selector lever to the provision of P or N and tighten the parking brake. Otherwise perhaps spontaneous start-off of the car from the place. Never leave the car with the working engine unguarded as it is a potential source of the increased danger. At wrong transfer of the lever to situation N at the movement on high turns at once dump gas. Wait until the engine reaches idling turns, and after that transfer the lever to the necessary situation. Otherwise because of too high turns damage of the engine is possible.

Р - parking situation

Include only after a full stop of the car. Driving wheels are blocked.

R - transfer of a backing


Include only after a car stop.

N - neutral situation


Include only at long breaks in the movement.

D - the main mode of the movement with automatic gear shifting


This situation corresponds to the normal mode of the movement. Automatically all transfers of the forward course switch. Functioning of the AGS system is not limited at all.

3 - sports program


At such provision of a control lever of AT the AGS system uses exclusively sports program. AT makes switchings before the 4th transfer.

2 and 1 - movement along mountain roads and in the braking mode the engine


Include for restriction of number of working transfers, for example, on steep slopes or descents in mountains. Switchings are carried out automatically, however only before the chosen limiting transfer.

Situation 2 thanks to the corresponding selection of transfer numbers is especially convenient at towage of the trailer.

The mode of the maximum acceleration with decrease in transfer ("Kick-Down")

This mode provides a possibility of the maximum acceleration and achievement of the maximum speed in position D of the lever of the AT selector. Press an accelerator pedal with transition for the provision of full gas. At the same time the point of the increased resistance has to be passed.

Electronic control system of gear shifting

If the control lamp lights up, then it testifies to malfunction in system of gear shifting.

At the same time the possibility of the transfer of the lever of the AT selector to any of provisions remains, however at inclusion of the forward course the car will move only on the 3rd or 4th transfer.

Avoiding the raised loadings, it is necessary to reach to the next HUNDRED BMWs.

Works in podkapotny space cannot be carried out at installation of a control lever to provision of the movement at all.

Automatic transmission with the Steptronic system *

In addition allows to use also manual gear shifting.

For manual gear shifting transfer AT control lever from situation D to the left to the M/S line. Thereby you make active sports programs of gear shifting. A lever contact in the "+" or "-" direction you give the command to the Steptronic system on transfer switching. If you want to return to the automatic mode of gear shifting, then transfer the lever to the right to situation D.

Automatic transmission of Steptronic is equipped with an adaptive control system (AGS) described above.

M/S - Manual mode and sports program

 


Upon transition from the mode D to the M/S mode the sports program becomes more active what emergence of the letters SD on the indicator of the chosen program of gear shifting testifies to. The AGS system uses only such program schedules which are focused on the most sports style of driving. AT will switch only before the 4th transfer.

At the first contact of the lever there is a switching of AT from the sports program on the manual mode.
if you translate the lever forward and the + direction, then the box switches to an overgear, and when translating the lever in the - direction it switches to a low gear.

On the indicator of the chosen transfer M1 is highlighted... M5.

Switchings to the raised or low gears are carried out by the AGS system only at the corresponding turns of the engine, that is, for example, switchings to low gears at too high turns of the engine are not made. On the control panel for some time indication of the chosen transfer appears. At consecutive performance of several switchings the inadmissible transfer chosen as the last is for a short time highlighted. Then the transfer included at the moment is brought to indication.

At the movement in the manual mode for acceleration from the 4th or 5th transfer at a low speed - for example, when overtaking - switching to a low gear has to be carried out manually or with use of the Kick-Down function.

Switching with M/S to P, R, N is possible only through situation D.

Electronic control system of gear shifting
