BMW 3 Series E46

1 Disconnect a negative cable (-) of the rechargeable battery at the switched-off ignition. The battery is in a luggage compartment behind a cover on the right side. At the BMW 316i, 318i cars the battery settles down in a motive compartment.

As a result of shutdown of the rechargeable battery data from memory of malfunctions of some monitors are erased. If necessary before shutdown of the battery it is necessary to consider these memories of malfunctions. Address the Section Diagnostics of Malfunctions. Work it is desirable to carry out HUNDRED in conditions.

2 Remove a vozdukhosborny box, address the Section Removal and installation of a box of an air inlet.
3 To disconnect the gas drive at a branch pipe of a butterfly valve, address the Section Removal, installation and adjustment of the drive of a butterfly valve.
4 Remove an air hose between the filtering box of air and a branch pipe of a butterfly valve for what weaken fastening of a collar.

5 Turn off bolts of fastening of the top part of the inlet pipeline at a forward support, and also at a back support (an arrow on an illustration).

6 Disconnect a vacuum hose-1-.
7 Disconnect a vacuum hose to the inlet pipeline at the amplifier of a brake. For this purpose some effort will be required.

8 Turn off bolts of fastening and remove the top part of the inlet pipeline.

9 Merge cooling liquid, address the Section Replacement of Cooling Liquid.

10 Disconnect a hose of cooling liquid at the lower part of the inlet pipeline for what weaken a collar (an arrow on an illustration).

11 Disconnect the directing pipe of the index of level of oil at the lower part of the inlet pipeline (the shooter on an illustration).

12 Open cable channel at the engine. Disconnect electric wires from the elements provided below. Mark accessions a tape not to mix them at assembly:

- injectors;
- the generator, address the Section Removal and installation of the generator;
- the detonation sensor on the block of cylinders;
- sensor of temperature of cooling liquid;
- a starter, address the Section Removal and installation, check of a starter;
- oil level sensor;
- sensor of provision of a bent shaft;
- sensor of the index of pressure of oil.

The fuel system of the engine is under pressure! Before opening of hose connections put on them a thick rag. Then, having carefully disconnected a hose, take off pressure. There is a risk of fire, do not smoke!

13 Disconnect the giving and returnable fuel hoses (arrows on an illustration).

14 Turn off bolts of fastening and disconnect a support of the inlet pipeline (an arrow on an illustration).

15 Turn off bolts of fastening and disconnect the lower part of the inlet pipeline at a head of cylinders.

1 Replace all sealing rings.
2 Evenly cross-wise tighten bolts of fastening of the lower part of the inlet pipeline to a head of cylinders by the efforts given in Specifications.

18 Fix by bolts a support of the inlet pipeline.

3 Fix the giving and returnable fuel pipelines.

The collar of the returnable pipeline at installation needs to be replaced. The giving pipeline fix by the moment of 20 N • m.

4 Attach electric wires to the following elements:

- injectors;
- the generator, address the Section Removal and installation of the generator;
- the detonation sensor at the block of cylinders;
- sensor of temperature of cooling liquid;
- a starter, address the Section Removal and installation, check of a starter;
- oil level sensor;
- sensor of provision of a bent shaft;
- sensor of the index of pressure of oil.
5 Fix cable channel at the engine.
6 Fix the directing pipe of the index of level of oil.
7 Put on a hose of cooling liquid the lower part of the inlet pipeline and fix by a collar.

8 Fix the top part of the inlet pipeline.

9 Put on a vacuum hose to the inlet pipeline on the amplifier of a brake.

10 Fix the top part of the inlet pipeline at a forward support, and also at a back support. Put on a vacuum hose-1-.

11 Insert an air hose between a box of the air filter and a branch pipe of a butterfly valve and fix by collars.
12 Connect the gas drive at a branch pipe of a butterfly valve, address the Section Removal, installation and adjustment of the drive of a butterfly valve.
13 Install into place a vozdukhosborny box, address the Section Removal and installation of a box of an air inlet.
14 Connect a negative cable (-) of the rechargeable battery at the switched-off ignition. Establish hours.

3 Disconnect the gas drive at a branch pipe of a butterfly valve, address the Section Removal, installation and adjustment of the drive of a butterfly valve.
4 Remove an air hose between a box of the air filter and a branch pipe of a butterfly valve for what weaken a collar.
5 Rasstykuyte the socket of an injector of idling and the resonant gate at a branch pipe of a butterfly valve.
6 Turn off bolts of fastening and remove the cable mine under a branch pipe of a butterfly valve.

7 Disconnect a hose of discharge of oil at the directing pipe of the index of level of oil, previously having weakened fastening of a collar.

8 Turn off the directing pipe of the index of level of oil at the inlet pipeline.

9 Turn off fastening bolts (arrows on an illustration) and remove a branch pipe of a butterfly valve together with consolidation.

10 Uncover an oil filling mouth. Hook the screw-driver small covers (arrows on an illustration) and remove. Weaken the bolts lying under them. Remove 2 plastic facings.

11 Take out shtekerny connections of sensors of oxygen (an arrow on an illustration). Rasstykuyte socket of the electromagnetic valve of the VANOS system.

12 Raise and take aside a shtekerny bar of injectors.

13 Take out electric wires from side facing at the water tank. For this purpose remove a rubber level-1-up. Turn clips of-2-side facing on 1/4 turns and take out. Take out upward side facing.

14 Disconnect a branch pipe of ventilation of a case. At the same time squeeze connection (two arrows at the left).

The fuel system of the engine is under pressure! Before opening of hose connections impose on it a thick layer of a rag. Then, having carefully disconnected a hose, take off pressure. There is a risk of fire, do not smoke!

15 At first disconnect the toplivopodayushchy pipeline-1-. Then disconnect the returnable pipeline of fuel-2-at the distributive highway for what weaken collars. After removal collars have to be surely replaced.

At some models the giving pipeline is attached directly to the distributive highway. In this case the sealing ring at installation has to be surely replaced and be greased with technical vaseline. Fuel hoses can also fasten brackets. In this case the special BMW-16 1 050 tool is necessary for an otvorachivaniye of brackets. Check a sealing ring before installation. In the presence of damages replace, address the Section Removal and installation of injectors.

16 Disconnect a support at the inlet pipeline.
17 Check that on the inlet pipeline all hoses were disconnected.

18 Turn off bolts of fastening and remove the inlet pipeline from a head of cylinders (an arrow on an illustration). Attention: You watch that any details did not get into inlet cavities.

1 Install into place the inlet pipeline at a head of cylinders and fix it evenly by bolts cross-wise. Before installation check all sealing rings damaged replace.

2 Fix a support of the inlet pipeline.
3 Fix the directing pipe of the index of level of oil at the inlet pipeline.
4 Put on a hose of return of oil at the directing pipe of the index of level and fix it by a collar.
5 Fix a branch pipe of a butterfly valve with a new sealing ring.
6 Join the socket of an injector of idling and the resonant gate of a branch pipe of a butterfly valve.
7 Fix the mine of cables under a branch pipe of a butterfly valve.
8 Fix the drive of gas to a branch pipe of a butterfly valve and adjust it, address the Section Removal, installation and adjustment of the drive of a butterfly valve.
9 Fix by new collars the giving and returnable fuel-supply lines of the distributive highway. Put new sealing rings, address the subsection "Removal".
10 Fix connection for ventilation of a case.
11 Join the socket of sensors of oxygen and the electromagnetic VANOS valve.
12 Put on a shtekerny level of injectors.
13 Insert the socket at a water-collecting compartment. Turn clips of-1-side facing on 1/4 turns and record.
14 Fix two assembly covers. Establish covers of bolts of fastening.
15 Screw a cover on a branch pipe for oil filling.
16 Install an air collector box, address the Section Removal and installation of a box of an air inlet.
17 Attach a negative cable (-) of the rechargeable battery at the switched-off ignition. Establish hours.

3 Turn off bolts of fastening-1-and remove facing of the engine-2-.

4 Disconnect the soaking-up pipeline at the AGR valve (recirculation of the fulfilled gases) for what weaken a collar (an arrow on an illustration).

5 Turn off bolts of fastening-1-and uncover the engine.

6 Disconnect from holders hoses around the index of level of oil.

7 Disconnect electric wires from side facing at the water tank. Remove upward a rubber level-1-. Turn clips of-2-side facing on 1/4 turns and remove up.

8 Turn off fastening bolts (arrows on an illustration) and uncover at the engine at the left.

9 Turn off four bolts of the AGR valve on the inlet pipeline (shooters on an illustration).

The fourth bolt on an illustration is not visible.

10 Turn off a back bolt of fastening of the inlet pipeline. On an illustration the face key with a graggers on a back bolt is shown.
11 Take out covers between channels of the inlet pipeline.

12 Turn off bolts-1-and nuts-2-at the inlet pipeline.

1 Replace all sealing rings.
2 Fix by bolts ravnomernokrest-crosswise the inlet pipeline to a head of cylinders.
3 Further installation is carried out in the sequence, the return to removal.
4 Install a vozdukhosborny box, address the Section Removal and installation of a box of an air inlet.
5 Attach a negative cable (-) of the rechargeable battery at the switched-off ignition. Establish hours.
