Removal and installation of the bearing of a wheel

Removal requires the special BMW tool.

If on turn, in particular, on abrupt turn, noise around an external wheel appears, it indicates damage of the bearing of a wheel.


 REMOVAL

1 Mark paint the provision of the corresponding forward wheel concerning a nave. It will allow to establish at assembly the balanced wheel in its former situation. Weaken bolts of fastening of a wheel at the car standing on the earth. Lift a forward part of the car, put it on supports and remove a forward wheel.
2 Hook the screw-driver and uncover a nave. Surely replace a cover with new. At installation the cover which was in the use does not provide necessary tightness.

3 Bring down a chisel a stopper (the shooter on an illustration) nuts with a neck-1-.

4 Fix a forward wheel and lower the car on wheels.

5 Turn off a nut with a neck.

The nut drags on the big moment therefore at its otvorachivaniye the car has to stand wheels on the earth. That at a nut otvorachivaniye the wheel could not be turned, ask the assistant to press a brake pedal.

6 Remove a support and fix it by a wire, address the Section Removal and installation of a guide of a forward brake.
7 Remove a brake disk, address the Section Removal and installation of a brake disk of a forward wheel.

8 Disconnect the pulse ABS-1-sensor from a rotary fist-2-.

9 Remove a nave by means of a stripper and the available bolts of fastening of a wheel together with bearings.

The removed knot (a nave with bearings) the bearing repeatedly should not be applied.

If the internal ring of the bearing is not removed from a rotary fist, remove a guard and a protective cover and then remove a ring by means of a stripper. For removal of a guard turn out a face key three M6 screws at internal diameter.


 INSTALLATION

10 If the guard was removed, put it with a new cover into place.
11 Screw the directing BMW-312110 plug which is available in a tool set on all length of a carving of a rotary fist.
12 Deliver on a fist by means of the BMW-312110 tool new knot of the bearing. Remove the directing plug.
13 Slightly screw a new nut with a neck.
14 Establish and fix the pulse ABS sensor.
15 Establish a brake disk, address the Section Removal and installation of a brake disk of a forward wheel.
16 Establish a support, address the Section Removal and installation of a guide of a forward brake.
17 Establish into place a forward wheel so that the markings put at removal coincided. Previously grease with a thin layer of bearing lubricant the aligning wheel disk belt on a nave. Do not grease bolts of fastening of a wheel. Replace rusty bolts. Wrap bolts.
18 Lower the car on wheels, include transfer, tighten the parking brake. For fixing of a forward wheel ask the assistant to press a brake pedal.
19 Fix a nut with a neck the moment of 290 N • m and its raschekanta. For this purpose hammer a fillet of a nut with a drift into a fist axis groove.

If the nut was tightened by the determined moment once, the bearing knot repeatedly cannot be applied.

20 Grease with sealant, for example, of Loctite 638 a cover of a nave and put it into place. The cover needs to be replaced surely. At installation of earlier used cover tightness cannot be provided. In this case the got water can damage the wheel bearing within a short period of time.
21 Tighten bolts of fastening of a wheel cross-wise the moment of 100 N • m.
