The air pressure control system in tires (RDC) *

Principle of action

 


The RDC system controls air pressure in tires of all four wheels and during the movement. The system reports about considerable pressure drop in one or several tires.

In each wheel behind the gate there is pressure sensor, the transmitter and the power supply. Through short intervals of time measurement of pressure is performed.
The obtained data are transferred on a radio channel. At pressure deviation from norm frequency of data transmission increases.

Near each wheel in a body there are antennas which accept signals from transmitters. The onboard processor processes the arriving signals and reports about changes to the driver.

In order that the system "understood" what pressure is normal, it is necessary to check pressure in all four wheels, to compare to Specifications and if necessary to bring to norm. Then it is necessary to make active system.

This control lamp on the control panel informs you that air pressure in tires has an aberration.


Activization of system

 


1 Turn a key in situation 2.
2 You hold a key pressed until the control lamp on the control panel does not light up yellow light.
3 In a few minutes after a start of motion the RDC system will remember the actual pressure of air in tires as a reference indicator by which it is necessary to be guided further.

This procedure should be repeated only after pumping of tires. In other cases the RDC system automatically joins after turn of the ignition key in situation 2 and works at each trip.

At pressure drop

If air pressure considerably falls after a while in tires (that in principle represents the normal phenomenon), the control lamp lights up yellow light.

Thereby you are offered to bring as soon as possible pressure in tires of your car to norm.

If after a while after bringing pressure to norm you are again offered to repeat this operation, then it means that you incorrectly pumped up tires. Double-check pressure and compare its values to the values given in Specifications.

At a tire puncture


At a tire puncture with loss of pressure the control lamp lights up red light. In addition the sound signal sounds.

In this case immediately reduce speed up to a full stop of the car, avoiding at the same time sharp braking and sharp movements by a wheel. Replace the punctured wheel.

The compact wheel provided on a tire puncture case * (it can be used only temporarily) does not enter the air pressure control system in tires. The spare wheel * the identical size with other wheels established on the car, on the contrary, is equipped with the necessary electronic means allowing to control onto air pressure in it after installation instead of a defective wheel and activization of the RDC system.

The RDC system cannot warn about a sudden rupture of a tire as a result of external influences.

Hindrances

Other systems or devices which use the same radio frequency can negatively affect operability of the RDC system.

During emergence of hindrances the control lamp burns with yellow light.

Yellow light of a lamp testifies also:

- about failure in system,
- about installation of a wheel without the corresponding electronics,
- about existence in the car together with a spare wheel * also other wheels with electronics for RDC.
