Removal and installation of the control panel

If it is necessary to replace the control panel, before dismantling it is necessary to take readings of memory of malfunctions. Besides, consider and write down data of the index of intervals of service and the counter of the passable way (HUNDRED).

REMOVAL

It is not required to remove a steering wheel. On illustrations the steering wheel is removed for the best review.

1 Completely extend a steering wheel and move it down.
2 Disconnect a negative cable (-) of the rechargeable battery at the switched-off ignition. The battery is in a luggage compartment behind a cover on the right side. At the BMW 316i, 318i cars the battery settles down in a motive compartment.

As a result of shutdown of the rechargeable battery data from memory of malfunctions of some monitors are erased. If necessary before shutdown of the battery it is necessary to consider these memories of malfunctions. Address the Section Diagnostics of Malfunctions. Work it is desirable to carry out HUNDRED in conditions.

3 Turn out screws-1-and take away the control panel.

4 Release the plug-2-and remove it. For this purpose open a collar-3-and take away from a cable.

INSTALLATION

5 Join the socket and fix it a collar. You watch that the collar was recorded.
6 Insert the control panel into an aperture and fix by screws.
7 Attach a negative cable (-) of the rechargeable battery at the switched-off ignition. Establish hours.
8 Establish a steering column in normal situation.
